A DEVILISH HYBRID
Initially this typeface started off as a revival of a letter style called "Hohenzollern" (designed by Carl Albert Fahrenwaldt (1864-1941) which I found in the 1909 edition of the Schriften Atlas. This quickly became a greater endeavor to become a more complete and useful typeface for modern times beyond the 26 upper and lowercase characters and numerals that were presented.
The transitional aesthetic this letter style established between the blackletter of the past and the art-nouveau of the then-present resulted in a unique look that still feels fresh over 100 years later. Now for the first time ever, this century-old alphabet and numeral set has been expanded to include language support for over 75 languages, including custom designed diacritical marks, currency, punctuation, and symbols to match the rest of the character set in 9 distinct weights.
